The lore of the killers in Die of Death varies by each character: Pursuer hunts for fresh meat, Badware is a malicious computer virus seeking to destroy technology, and Artful is a former performer driven by frustration after a bad show. Harken was brought from another dimension where noise means danger and kills to silence those who make noise. Pursuer: Believes in the thrill of the hunt and is driven by the desire for "fresh meat," as seen in its focus on pursuing and hunting players. Badware: A computer virus that was trapped in a government-built body but escaped, it now seeks to destroy technology and infect devices without interference. Artful: A former performer who was pelted with banana peels after a show went poorly. He now takes his frustration out on others. Harken: A female construct from another dimension where noise is a signal of danger. She was pulled into this world by scientists, and the noise they made during her transport caused her to go on a killing spree. She now kills to stop the noise and defend herself.

The Runners
Objective: To survive for the entire round or until the round ends. Abilities: You are given a random set of abilities to help you survive. These can include things like: Dash: A short burst of speed. Punch: An attack that can briefly stun the Killer. Cloak: A temporary invisibility that is risky to use. Speed Pad: A deployable pad that can help create a safe loop. Points and Evilness: Civilians can earn points for surviving or using abilities, which are used to purchase cosmetic items. They also gain "Evilness" for certain actions, and the player with the highest Evilness at the end of the match becomes the next Killer. Interaction: You are hunted by the Killer but can use your abilities to escape or defend yourself, and in some game modes, even go on the offensive against the Killer. How to play as a Civilian Learn your abilities: Pay attention to your randomized Deck and understand how each ability works before using it. Conserve stamina: Stamina is crucial for escaping. Try to regain stamina when the Killer is not chasing you. Be strategic with invisibility: Invisibility is powerful but risky. Use it when the Killer is far away and try to escape to a safe spot before you become visible again. Teamwork: If you are playing with other survivors, coordinate with them to increase your chances of survival. For example, one person could use a healing ability while another distracts the Killer.
